These awards are given by CASA, the Contemporary A Cappella Society, a non-profit organization promoting a cappella music. As the liner notes note, a cappella means literally "in the chapel style," but the 18 cuts prove it is closer to "in any style." Some of our favorites: Spiralmouth's "Nothing Is Written," Naturally Seven's powerful "Bless This House," Harmony Sweeps champs Toxic Audio's "Loving You," Ocume's "Guantanamera," Da Vinci's Notebook's "Ally McBeal," The Kinsey Sicks' hilarious "Gay Sera Sera," and m-pact's vocal-percussion jazz-pop gem, "Caroling, Caroling." CARA 2000 is a good sampler of how CASA sees today's a cappella music.
